Record shot of the B1 heading towards Guildford at Petersfield. The driver opened up for the bump through the station and that was nice for the spectators. It also sounded nice.

Should have brought Tangmere down if they wanted some exhaust, judging by some of her recent performances!

The Cherstey route seems to be jinxed for 'Mayflower' at the moment! The working seems to have been stuck there for around 20 minutes this afternoon before resuming towards London.

Yes, not quite what I had in mind! Spectacular though it is, it gives the steam sector a bad name. BTW, there was a huge pall of smoke hanging in the air around Worplesdon after the train passed, I assume from 'Mayflower' - I wonder what happened there after such a clean pass at Guildford. Cropped 8K video frame attached.

We were told onboard that all trains in the area were being delayed due to stray dog on the line at Egham.

The thick grey/black smoke was clearly visible from on board the train at a distance of approx 1.5 miles away. No idea what caused it.

I must have been standing next to you this afternoon. I moved to your side for the sun and the longer view that was possible.

A coincidence, then. Thanks for the information. I wondered if the 47 had been opened up!

Thanks. Fingers crossed that the SSE makes it through the area without incident tonight to manage the first complete run of the season.

Five early at Botley, 61306 on 10 plus the 47. Neither loco working but the B1 looked nice in the sun

It went from 14 late at Chilworth to 1 early at Reigate! The 47 must have been full on! An amazing recovery given the line speed and PSRs en route. My scenes from yesterday:

Interesting, there are no points at Chertsey!

OK, it's the mod point between Virginia Water and Weybridge.

    Cheers, Neil
