I guess that's one good reason for having alternative traction at hand. Hopefully the day will continue and folk will still get their time in York.

So does that mean that 60163 and 70000 are now at Wansford, because I've not seen any moves booked for either on RTT?

    Loco and support coach
Yes, though there's a WCRC light engine move from Newark to Orton Mere this evening, and another move back again afterwards.

Doesn't look like it's 'limping' to me, as per the video title?

There's a certain irony in the relaxation of the fire risk steam ban being accompanied by two steam failures today! 45212 failed at Weymouth after a very poor trip down from Victoria (15 late by Woking and 60 late at Southampton).

There's a slight difference between heritage line running at reduced speed and fast running at high speed; sufficient I surmise to not take the risk of a minor problem becoming a major problem especially on such an intensive network as the ECML.

A shame the Brit never made it further than Peterborough, but it at least made for a fine sight where able. Captured at Welwyn North, before being seen arriving onto the Nene Valley Railway and heading to Wansford:

It was not 60 late at Southampton, the latest it got was around 40 minutes late, arriving at Weymouth 31 late.

Not quite the day to remember with 70000, but at least we got her back at NVR :p

Seen at Digswell Viaduct, Welwyn North and on the NVR around Fletton, Orton Mere & Castor

That’s to collect coach 80217 from NVR that Tornado was using a few weeks ago

70000 Britannia climbing the 1/200 gradient from the station stop at Huntingdon - the day looking very good before the loco had to be removed at Peterborough. A great location for sound, especially when diesel support is limited and on this occasion seemingly completely absent.

Yes RTT showed 60 late as it gets screwed up with the train passing through Redbridge and Millbrook twice, so it seems to record the westbound pass as a delay to the eastbound pass.
Mind you it also gets royally screwed timing wise when it waters in the U&DGL in the evening as well in the area between there and St. Denys.

We heard her well from our house, from her whistle at the station, until she entered the deep cutting. She sounded superb.

Thanks for posting this very watchable video of the day's albeit disappointing events. From around 4:15, the video shows a "buffering-up" that was "as gentle as an angel's touch". From the lack of comments I can only assume that this has been missed by the numerous aficionados of such events. Just a casual observation ;)

Yes - an example of 'buffering' on a video which was actually welcome!
