Yes I am an active volunteer
Statfold’s ‘Alpha’ spent its working life in India hauling sugar cane, and 2022 marks the locomotive's 100th Birthday.

So, to celebrate this momentous occasion we thought we would have a weekend dedicated to Indian steam!

Visiting from the Beeches Light Railway we have '19B', the only Darjeeling Himalayan Railway B class to leave India!

Our friends from the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society (DHRS) are bringing a little bit of India right here to Statfold...
    • Oak Tree Halt will become Sukna Station for the weekend with a market bazaar to add to the atmosphere.
    • Samosas and Chai tea will be sold to passengers arriving and departing from Sukna Station.
    • The DHRS will be showcasing some of their archive photos.
As well as this little corner of India in Staffordshire the weekend will also features...
    • Live steam layout featuring Darjeeling Railway locomotives.
    • Various miniature steam models of Indian narrow gauge locomotives thanks to The Steam Workshop.
    • A locomotive line-up on the Saturday afternoon.
It promises to be a Statfold steam spectacular not to be missed so book now to avoid disappointment.

Thanks to the Transport Museum Wythall there will also be a heritage bus service giving FREE rides to and from Tamworth Town Centre and Railway station.
