Surprised nobody created a topic before the running of today's tour!

For those not in the know, as a finale to the Jacobite season, Ian Riley's Black 5's No. 45407 and 44871 lead the SRPS 'West Highlander' railtour from Fort William to Polmont this afternoon. After what looked like such a bright and promising morning in terms of weather, turns in to light rain with cloud cloud cloud. While I was at the Horseshoe Curve watching the duo tackle the climb towards County March with the load 11 in tow, slight slipping was observed which had apparently been re-occuring on the greasy rails throughout the West Highlands, prompting the railtour to be followed closely by a light Class 47 in case of assistance requirement.

Anyway, tour appears to have went well! Hopefully more Start Of and End Of railtours can be arranged for the Jacobite in future.

And for those keen to see a photo, just the best of three I think :

Fantastic work as always Austin. Apart from Riley's Twins, love the sequence of the Ben, stunning.

Thanks very much Mike, glad you enjoyed it and as Ralph says, some excellent video and photography despite the dull weather
