Probably stretching things by including this in the Spring/Summer 2018 CME thread but just got e-ticket for Saturday’s jolly, 45690 or 45699 + POB + 10. Leaves are falling and rain is forecast for Saturday, could be interesting.

This is on the NR Travel News Page tonight:

A speed restriction has been imposed between Lancaster and Penrith North Lakes until 10:00 on Sunday. Journey times may be extended by up to 40 minutes.

We'll see how it works out but maybe if there's for example a 60 limit that might work in the CMEs favour.

Anyway, the CME currently on time but the TPE 15 late.

Definitely. They are all losing half an hour Lancaster to Penrith. Some being turned round at Preston.

I was gonna go out and see the tour today but owing to family business alongside how sh*t the weather is that plan went out the window. Believe this was the final CME of 2018, there's a run with Tornado taking place in December but that's under the name "Border Raider". Next CME were gonna see now will be the WCME on Sat 26th January 2019.

The following two runs are very CME-like:

    https://www.westcoastrailways.co.uk/spirit-of-the-lakes/trips/548-The-Citadel-Steam-Special-2018.cfm

Reminiscent of the January CMEs of yore from Manchester with double Rileys

Local papers reporting no trains running between Oxenholme and Penrith due to a landslip. Sounds like the CME was fortunate to get through before this happened.

    From Virgin trains web site:

For the last few years the WCME from Manchester hasnt been worked by Riley's engines which is a shame as not everyone can head north to Scotland. Would be nice though if for 2019's WCME from Manchester that they had the Riley duo on the front but fat chance of that as Mr Riley doesn't seem to wanna do that anymore, it's bad enough trying to find a run with 45212 that's not Scotland based as I wanna get her for haulage before the seven year ticket runs out as she might return to the KWVR without a ticket extension for the mainline. Not even bothering to ask him why they arent being made available for it anymore though as it's basically like talking to a brick wall/trying to watch a TV that's on standby.

Would be good though if RTC advertised is as having the two jubilee's on the front but so far in the four years the two have operated together, excluding the GBXI they haven't worked a single day-trip while double heading for normal day-trip passengers.

Looks like it's on the up line somewhere around Grayrigg. Meanwhile the CME dropped maybe 20 mins going over Ais Gill. Tough conditions today.

Hope to god we dont have a repeat of what happened in 2016 when the landslip shut the S&C to railtours.
