@Jonnie Your usual excellent communication about events being changed due to cirumstances out of your control.

    Very many thanks for that.

And of course for arranging a mini Bulleid fest on 20 and 21 July. That will do very nicely indeed.

The Bulleid event will be good I’m sure but I’ll be away on holiday so I’ll miss it. :(

That’s great thanks. Boiler inspection 9-10 years?

Technically we've got it until 2034 based on the 10yr cycle but it of course gets inspected every 14 months so to keep it simple for non railway people that was the stance taken.

Thank you very much for the update. I have passed the information on to my fellow passenger as we return from Scarborough behind 7029. He and his friends will attend Saturday and enjoy 4144 and 828. Much appreciated.

Quite bizarre in some resects, had the U on Friday whilst three in ticket Bulleids sat in siding 2 at Swanage.

I imagine your post was intended for the Swanage thread?

No, we have a glut of Bulleids sitting idle. Spa valley needs them, not a Swanage issue.

This railway looks after everyone......and everything.

The first train up from Eridge with 4144 just pulled up at Pokehill Crossing to avoid running down a whole herd of deer that decided to cross the tracks.

    Top class action!

To be fair I don't think the headline of "Steam train runs down herd of deer" would be the kind of publicity any heritage railway would necessarily welcome!

Especially as the deer could just possibly be getting ready for their role as reindeer for what I hope is another very successful Polar Express season for the Spa Valley Railway that is scheduled to start in November. :)

However, as Jonnie has said the biggest problem is not the in ticket locomotives, but the transport of them when the haulier has problems.

Having a fabulous morning so far. I fear Caley 828 may have lost its crown for loudest bark in the High Weald to 4144, or is it just because @Jonnie is on the regulator?

My watch just flashed up the following climbing out of High Brooms

The deer are a problem on our line, there are literally hundreds in the area. Some even venture up into the town.

I brought the trains speed down this morning as the mess deer make if you hit them (I hit one with 80078 in the dark at the beer fest last year I think) isn't very nice to clean up. They tend to come worse off but also if they do sadly get in the way it isn't very nice for anyone who might come across it.

I'm rather an animal lover having rescued and own two Greyhounds so anything animal related I'm rather passionate about.
