The next gala on the SDR takes part on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th July, this being the annual 1940's weekeknd.

The timetables have just been completed and should appear on-line, along with further details in due course. Four locomotives will be in steam on both days.

3803 will be working the main passenger set, making four round trips on each day.

5526 will make three full line trips working the two-car auto set. This offers a rare chance to enjoy the auto making several trips on the same day. Auto services will stop (by request) at Nappers Halt.

5786 will be working a variety of branch goods and military trains. The 57 will appear in GWR plain black for this event. In addition to the goods and military trains, the loco is also expected to work an "Officers Special" each day, this being formed of a single GWR Managers/Inspection Saloon.

1369 will be kept busy at Bcukfastleigh and will be coupled to a GWR shunters truck and acting as shed and station pilot.

There will be a whole variety of 40's themed activities going on, so keep an eye on the websites for more info.

The next event following the 40's weekend, will be the RAILS & ALES Gala over the August Bank Holiday weekend. This promises to be another great event and with over 20 real ales and traditional ciders to enjoy, plus a special timetable featuring five or six locomotives. Put the date in your diary and pop along and enjoy a drink and ride and help us continue to clebrate the 40th aniversary of line being re-opened.

Very enjoyable with many extra touches--some very funny/aposite. Excellent Officers' Spl/military train. 4 locos in steam.

With 60163 at N.Abbot another excellent day
