    Former Sierra Leone Railway No.85 has received a surprise livery change to Matt Black (representing her 'African' livery) in time for her Gala operations with the two restored SLR coaches in September.

    This is the fourth livery carried in preservation and strictly speaking the only historically correct for the locomotive;
    - 1979-1987: SLR Green (only carried by the pre-war SLR 2-6-2Ts)
    - 1992-2003: North Staffordshire Railway "Madder Lake" red (Leek & Manifold Valley Light Railway 1912-1923)
    - 2003-2009: Midnight Blue (Paint purchased from Ffestiniog Railway. Previously applied to "Linda" and RfD class 47, 47145 "Merddin Emrys")
    - 2009: SLR Black (correct for post war SLR 2-6-2Ts)

    Magic to see, having seen 81 in February on her home ground, hope to get down to see 85 before her cert expires. How long has she got please?

    She goes out of ticket around Easter next year but is unlikely to be steamed much if at all before then. However I believe there may be a plan for some last specials at Easter as the loco is unlikely to return to service any time soon.

    Please do - as well as a repaint replica coal boxes have been refitted to the tank tops too.
