Although, if a little constructive criticism can be offered without fear of a ban (T-BF please hurry back, we miss you!!), that sky does look a little 'laboured' in Photoshop.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. :yo:

One of my pet hates is "blown" skies so I nearly always use a medium NDgrad filter to balance the exposure which is why there is detail in the sky.
No digital "labouring" was done to that sky.

May make a trip the week after next if I can persuade the memsahib. Just out of interest, which end is standard when leaving York in the morning?

Standard is on the front out of York in the morning, well certainly today it is anyway. 48151 is at the sharp end today.

Ta. On trips I've made in the past it has been on the rear so I've had a look round the NRM before joining at York after the morning circuit. Looks like I'll be doing it the other way round this time.

Agree with the helpful response below now, after having more of a think.

Waterbuck - I think you need to think this turning thing through a bit. The SSE turns every day - twice! - as it goes round the Wakefield loop. But at the end of the day the set returns to York the same way round as it left in the morning.
This year standard has been at the front in the morning and at the rear in the afternoon for both the Scarborough and the Carlisle jobs.

    Hope this helps

    Peter James

Yes it does go to Neville Hill, it very often meets the Flyer which is watering at Milford.

The post after mine (which I then changed) makes sense.

A couple of shots this evening of 48151 running around the Yorkshire circle with the returning 'Scarborough Spa Express' seen near Burton Salmon and Pepper Road.

After that glaringly obvious ex-GW 'wally wagon' appearing on every Fellsman to date, for a change it's nice to see a uniformly-liveried set in use !

Is there an LMS loco that currently doesn't run around with drain cocks stuck open?
