Look, I take it on trust from the ORR that what they have done was for the right reasons. The fact that they gave a warning the first time and despite that something unknown happened that led to the suspension can only mean that WCRC brought all this mess on themselves over the Jacobite. The fact that the Scarborough Spa - that is what this thread is all about - ran as normal means that the ORR is not vindictive either. Yesterday was a triumph I think.

Let's assume that WCRC is putting its house in order. If you support heritage steam then it's hard not to wish them all the very best into the future. But yes, the WCRC apologists on here are rather conspicuous by what they say.

Thanks for the encouragement. I wonder how many of those miles featured Martyn Soames and his trusty shovel.

I guess what is true in the OP's post which started all this off is that IF the block between Skipton and Shipley had remained on all morning then a train operated by anyone with pick ups at Carnforth, Skipton, Shipley and Woodlesford with no way to get the Skipton folks to the train would have been pretty challenging. But the Northern website did say they were expecting to reopen around 10 and that is indeed what happened. Looking back at RTT the Scarborough was the seventh train through eastbound. That is pretty impressive, victory snatched. Carnforth to Seamer in four and a quarter hours will be tough to beat.

Indeed it is and whilst I know that slack timings give the opportunity for recovery when there is a problem, such as the other day, it often turns a day into a marathon!

Footage from Giggleswick Bank last night of the returning SSE in poor light, having travelled there and having to crouch down by the stone wall under my umbrella for twenty five minute in battering torrential rain I decided I may as well wait for the late running return but by that time the rain had past and the light was almost gone so the footage is not of quality and loses focus here and there so have tried to edit it the best I could.

Nige you have no need to apologise for the quality of that footage, it makes a stunning clip showing just what you can do with video in low light, very like something that @Linesider is known for.

Sometimes what we think as a poor video shot works better than expected .

Many thanks Ralph, David is definitely the master when it comes to low light filming.

Thanks twice over, once for persisting despite the challenging conditions and second for producing a very watchable video with a superb soundtrack.

    Great video.
Decided to opt for the station, as at least some light there from lighting. Sheltered in motorhome while the storm passed.
