Website updated today to say that the 2026 programme will be available to book from next Tuesday 7th October.

 

Out of interest, and I have not followed these tours too closely, it was stated early on in the year there were plans to run a few tours without a diesel. Did that ever happen on Saphos or SD?

 

I think there was one with 60007 SNG

 

Blue Peter on the Lakelander, 5th April. Of course the weather from then to August has not been conducive.

 

60532 Blue Peter is hauling the White Rose railtour to York today. 10 blood and custard mk.1s plus 47. So good to see such a smartly turned out loco and coaches. <BJ>

 

60532 with "The White Rose" passing Buxworth today; Luckily the passing freight service went by with just enough chance to get a clear view of the loco, but was certainly worried for a moment!

For the second week running, the sun fails to appear as 60532 climbs towards Chinley

 

The Christmas White Rose with 60007 on the 15th November has some ambitious timings:

Northbound from a cold start at PBO it is timed to pass Stoke Jn in 22 mins for the 24 miles.
The only stop en route to York is Babworth loop, 63 miles (PBO-Retford) from the start in 55 minutes, an average of about 68 mph!

 

Expect something similar for the 18th Nov and quite possible for the 21st Nov, all from what the charter planning in MK are devising

60007 Steam Dream times on the 21st on the Steam Dreams section

 

60007 got into some difficulty at Corby Glen it seems and is running at 20 mph to Peterborough.

 

From what I can gather as I was on a LNER service from Doncaster to Peterborough as it was mentioned by the guard, there was some sort of track defect on the fast line so the charter was held to allow normal services to use the slow lines into Peterborough, at the time of posting this (20:18) she has yet to get into Peterborough station (was due at 18:40 and departure 19:40) and 44871 on the other tour from York has got into Peterborough on time (she was due about 10 minutes after the Saphos tour should have left) I feel for the crew and those onboard!

Although it could be something to do with the engine, but I know the track defect has caused lots of delays

Tour seems to have disappeared off the radar, there's a 5Z09 in platform 6 at Peterborough and a 0Z** just north of the station which is the 47 which brought the tour up. I wonder if they will continue with the passengers onboard or whether they're be sent forward by service train
