It's rare for the website to usually update on any changes until the week of the tour.

Mmm, last minute changes, amendments might put people off booking I guess

Reading the latest news about Dawlish in the Great Britain thread I wonder how The Dartmouth Express of the 19th April will be affected? Anyone know if there is a "Plan B" for this trip to Paington and Dartmouth? We are booked on this after transferring from the cancelled 5029 run last October.

RYTC have postponed this trip, still looking for a revised date. Saw it on their site yesterday.

    From RTC. <BJ>
''Due to on going engineering work being carried out by Network Rail at Dawlish, despite their reassurances that the repairs will be completed by mid April, we are currently looking at a revised date for the tour. All booked passengers will be notified in due course and our website will be amended accordingly''.

Thanks for the info. folks regarding the Dartmouth trip. I did check the RTC site yesterday but they must have put the update up after I looked.

Interesting to note that no announcement on the SD trip to Kingswear on 10 April has been made yet ? Given their previous form, I'm guessing no such announcement will be made if it is cancelled, it will merely disappear from their calendar.

Interesting decision as I thought that NR was becoming increasingly confident that this was a 'latest' date. Well they will probably lose bookings as synchronising an alternative date with my party could well be tricky, for a starter.

When Nigel returns from Sri Lanka a review can be made. Spring tides due. Everyone is optimistic but I remain cautious over capacity issues once the line is reopened! Especially for the first few days after Maundy Thursday when it's all settling in. As you know tickets are being sold from the Thursday but not before. Bridgwater to Taunton may impact if a side effect is massive re timings due to severe speed restrictions etc. however, let's be positive and hope this trip can run as planned. We nee d all the visitors we can get ESP Big Als party!

Looking further into the year and the Weymouth plus the Royal Duchy runs, if RTC can advise of the roster as early as possible, that would be very helpful. Would be a bit of a let down to book two or more of these trips and end up behind the same loco each time.

Indeed, and that's putting aside the possibility of last year's drought effect. Not that you need reminding of that I'm sure Spamcan ?

I hope RTC continue with the emails of loco allocations for trips where there is a pool ( as soon as known), or where the motive power changes. I have booked 2 trips based on loco allocations, and would have booked a third if it had not been cancelled due to loco being unavailable.

With the good news over the earlier opening of the Dawlish line, hopefully this will not now necessitate the inconvenience of changing the date for the Dartmouth trip on 19/4. It should also be good news for GB VII (as well as the SD Dartmouth trip on 10/4)
