Rother Valley Railway

Discussion in 'Heritage Railways & Centres in the UK' started by nine elms fan, Nov 4, 2012.

I suspect it wouldn't, given that Teresa May is a glamour model. Feel free to Google her...
As a TTI, if memory serves correctly?
Only practical if they have more success than with bats, which are renowned for not moving to new alternatives (however 'tempting') if they are displaced from a roosting site.

Tenterden Station Master first, then guard and signalman. Don’t believe we had TTI’s in those far off days.

Just the same up here in Sussex. Rain coming in again.
Though being a perverse sort of bloke, I've always loved the countryside in wintertime. It has a sequestered beauty all of its own.

Robin - K&ESR had TTIs in late 80s as two of my daughters were . They helped out on the pullman too. Now you may not think of K&ESR as a mariage bureau. Richard Osbourn had interests on the railway but aso was into fire engines. Chris Barton was a friend of Richards, actually working as a technician with Kent fire brigade. So Chris got to know my TTI daughter Anne and they married and have two daughters the eldest is at Uni

I’ll defer to your expertise on the matter.

And who knew that Teresa May was a glamour model and TTI, albeit one who is hard to shift from her roosting site.

Followers of this thread will be interested to know that the planning application made [allegedly] by one of the landowners for 160 houses in Bexhill has generated a lot of objections, mainly on environmental grounds. So many that Rother DC put a note on their website stating that no further comments would be accepted. The Planning Committee were unable to reach a decision so the matter has been referred to the Full Council.

I received an email concerning the TWAO Public Inquiry today, concerning a pre-inquiry meeting to be held in March with the Inquiry itself commencing in June. There is a website dedicated to the Inquiry.

Mr. T. May, of Westminster, might be the right person to sort out the WSR. She's a tough cookie! ;) However, I don't expect those of a left leaning to agree.:D

As she can't even sort out her own party, what chance is there she can have any headway at the WSR!?

You don't have to be left leaning to see she's a square peg in a round hole, not least the ERG (far right?) wing of her own party who vote against her. Anyway that's enough of politics as this is after all a railway thread.

I took a quick look at the documents on the site. Highways England has come out with serious objections. The conclusion from their ten page long "Statement Of Case" document states:

"The draft Order as submitted and the works it proposes to the A21 Trunk Road are inadequately prepared such that there are compelling reasons to believe that the works proposed in the draft Order would result in severe harm to the safe and effective operation of the SRN. Therefore, Highways England continues to object to the proposed development on the grounds stated in this Statement of Case. The Order should not therefore be made by the Secretary of State. "

    Interestingly Paragraph 28 states:-

"Following our objection to the draft Order we met with the Applicant on 23 August 2018. On 12 September 2018 we received some further information from the Applicant which is currently being assessed. The Applicant has also
    promised further information in particular:
    a. an analysis of level crossing options; and
    b. an economic assessment.
The analysis of level crossing options has not yet been provided"

Hopefully negotiations are ongoing and will be resolved in advance of the Public Inquiry.

I was interested to read the rather longer document from the Landowners.
