10956 will nearly be in most recent Flying Scotsman overhaul territory by the time it's done (from a percentage of material replaced point of view)

I'm not so sure. A class 10 has rarity value but that's a negative point for commercial users (lack of spares), so you're only really selling to preservationists.
Having sold a dual-braked 08 a couple of years ago (OK, not in full working order, but not far off) I have a fair idea of the range of values which these things sell for; a lot will depend on the condition of the expensive-to-replace stuff like wheelsets.

For those that can't see the listings on Facebook (printed word for word):

FOR SALE. 2 X Mk1 SO. Curently dry stored in our carriage shed, these vehicle saw regular use up to COVID. Operating patterns since now mean these vehicles are not required.

Many years ago these formed part of the Berwin Belle train on the Llangollen Railway. They have been at Bodmin around 20 years. Renamed after local folk they are currently called St Piran and St Petroc. They are SO vehicles (8 windows a side) but with FO seats I believe. Each has an expanded lobby area for coffee and hanging costs etc. One has 36 seats, the other 42. Both could be made into 48 seats if you wish. Second class toilet cubicles are fitted and are complete with original porcelain. The centre doors are fixed shut and at one point had coffee stations fitted in them. They have 240v system on board and integral battery chargers. Whilst the body's are getting tired they still look stunning with the table clothes on and lamps flickering in the evening sunshine!

Viewing welcome by appointment. The coaches are located on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway. They must be removed at buyers expense by the end of September. Serious buyers please make us an offer. Happy to sell separately or as a pair. The price will be plus VAT. We also have a bsk for sale. See a separate post.

FOR SALE. Mk1 BSK. Curently dry stored in our carriage shed, this vehicle saw regular use up to COVID. Operating patterns since now mean this vehicle is not required. One door was replaced with a window and toilet removed some years ago, with the end compartment converted to a micro buffet. As a result it has 3 seating compartments. The luggage area was converted for wheelchair access (no lifts) and a separate cycle area. It's complete except for a couple of plywood panels. All the fittings required to put compartments back in use are present. It has had minor body work done in the past around windows and along the bottom edge. It did have crash pillar inspection windows added in 2018 and we continued it's use in 2019. Viewing welcome by appointment. The coach is located on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway. It must be removed at buyers expense by the end of September. Serious buyers please make us an offer. The price will be plus VAT. We also have 2x SO dining coaches for sale. See a separate post.

or being realistic on what is sat occupying space but doesn't feature in future plans . Most lines are in desperate need to cash so realising assets otherwise collecting dust is maybe not unreasonable

I think it's super refreshing even if the causes are not good ones. As a movement, me included, we do have a bit of a hoarding tendancy. I hope they all go on to productive lives.

Isn’t this the old dining train coaches? They don’t run dining trains any more so logical to sell them.

Mentioned in the latest Chairman's update from the Bluebell that BR Mark 1 SO No. 4824 is for sale "as we have enough Mk1’s, we don’t need to keep it. Plus, we can better direct our money and resources towards something more ‘heritage’ such as 100-seater, 971."

I think it has most recently been part of our Wealden Rambler set.

An admirable attitude IMHO. The Bluebell deserve plaudits for their realistic attitude and maintenance of their core collection.

Where did you see this? There's no mention of it in the last Chairman's Report, or on the What's New page.
