I think that was edited in later - a screenshot I sent to someone shows it wasn't part of the original post.

Apparently the Mid-Norfolk Railway has suddenly put up for sale their entire rake of MK2s in Blue/Grey.
From the screenshot I’ve seen of the advert, they’re in generally good condition but have been out of use for a few years.

Latest traction ads appeared this morning.
In addition to the MNR stock clearout, the EMU Buffet stored at Epping for the EPB group is up for sale, along with two Bagnalls and some other odds and ends.
I note that Glenfield has also disappeared from its long-term spot...

Or a membership who elect a board of Trustees to run the railway on their behalf and then want to micro-manage every board decision? Surely not! ;)

Being serious, probably a bit of both. It does show the importance though of having a clear strategic vision of what you wish to achieve long term; and also having documented acquisitions and disposals policies.

To be fair, the MNR selling that set is much like the bluebell selling 6575 - there’s history in that set as well as practical value.

We are digressing (as ever :)) but it’s been 10 years since I’ve moved to Cambridge and had the Mid Norfolk on the doorstep, compared to how things were not that long ago, how do I put this?
Things don’t seem to be as rosy as they were a few years ago, and it’s interesting to see that the turntable’s potentially up for sale as well.
There’s a lot of potential there things just seem to have gone a little off kilter recently.

I suspect MNR like many railways have taken something of a kicking over the last couple of years financially . They may be the most apparent having to take difficult decisions but watch this space for plenty more

The manner of some of their publicity suggests that money may not be the only issue in play.

So who in the current economic climate is likely to be in the market for mk2 coaches?
Or to put it another way, the problem with selling off the family silver during a depression is that you are unlikely to get a good price for it.

Does anyone know what eventually happened to the three Pullmans which were formerly used as part of a pub in Seaburn (Sunderland)? They seem to have turned up at the East Kent Railway in 2018 but are not on their stocklist (agreed, they may just be stored there for the owner and so don't appear) and there doesn't seem to be any trace after that.

They were apparently destined for the Folkestone Harbour development, presumably as part of the station but there's no mention of them on the development project website so I assume that never happened.

    Now where's that Lottery win?

The caveat insisting it is sold for mainline operation only must limit potential buyers to less than a handful. LSL already been lined up maybe?
