Back in 2005, Alstom donated a Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies electric works truck to the Ipswich Transport Museum, the vehicle coming from the former BR Eastleigh Works which they were in the process of closing down at that time. It's a NUC model and has an electrically worked crane on it for materials handling......

It's a difficult one to date as the they were produced over quite a period of time, but it's thought to date from the early 1970's, so would have been purchased by BR, though it may actually be older than that.
Whilst it is seemingly complete (I had a check over it yesterday) we did not get any batteries/charger with it when it was given to us.

It has been on display ever since its arrival, but is now surplus to our requirements as we were given a fully operational one a couple of months ago by Ransomes themselves, who had been using it at their works for at least the past 50 years!

Given its Railway provenance, I thought this might be as good a place to mention its availability for preservation (for free....) for any Museums that might be interested........
