    Peter I find it rather interesting that on the one hand we have a rather basic technology in this photo, yet just around the corner and in the not too distant future one of the first computers would be built and in operation, yet it would be rather secretive.

    It kind of has the feel of making the point that just as horses required an army of farriers, grooms and stable boys to keep them ready for work, so the iron horse had its associated army of fitters, cleaners and fire droppers? You wonder if there is some article in a staff magazine or a Pathé newsreel to that effect?
