Managed to escape the family to attend the SVR Jubilee event Saturday 4th June 2022.
My footage from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's "S&D Remembered" Cotswold Festival of Steam, featuring an impressive array of 9 locos in steam.
Double-Fairlies and Garratts in action on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways - together with Welsh Pony and Lyd.
Filmed on the 1st and 4th June during Jubilee week.
Steam on the Dover Seawall with 35028 today:
Here's some lovely old colour footage, from 'Jack Flash Vintage Motoring' of the Talyllyn filmed by Patrick Whitehouse. Dating from 1957, this [12'39"] was when Nos.1&2 were away, undergoing their long overdue rebuilds and Nos.3,4 & 6 held the fort, with No.3 looking to be facing west. You'll see very open ex-Penrhyn carriages still in service and the line's very first "bogies" (the 'cardboard carriages' 9/10).
A shot from the bridge at Hendy revealed all too clearly the battle bring the track up to scratch was still very much being waged. The section above Dolgoch (the last to retain the original oak keyed rail joints) must have taken priority, as this looks to be in better condition.
Some nice shots of the CCL, including one of the daily pick-up freight. Those of a sensitive disposition may find shots of Russell in cut-down condition disturbing ..... but within three years of Moel Tryfan's sad demise, at least it was finally somewhere safe! Hope it's of imterest:
Two Bulleid Pacifics over the S & C with 35018 hauling The Dalesman on 14th June, and 34046 at the head of The Fellsman on the 15th June - and filmed from the Arcow Quarry area, south of Horton in Ribblesdale.
LMS Stanier 'Jubilee' 4-6-0 No. 45596 Bahamas thunders away from Worcester in stormy conditions with the return leg of the RYTC's "Cotswold Venturer" railtour earlier today.
Took a trip to the Spa Valley Railway. Great railway in easy reach of London, so easy to tag on to a work trip.
Video coverage of the Evesham Vale Light Railway's "20th Anniversary" gala, starring visiting locos "Powys" & "Bonnie Dundee" alongside the home fleet.
Narrow Gauge steam on the Ffestiniog Railway during the heatwave - featuring double-headed steam to Blaenau Ffestiniog (Welsh Pony and Blanche) and 'Lyd' hauling the service to Tan y Bwlch.
Ever seen colour footage of the old Cavan & Leitrim? Me neither ..... but there's quite a bit here, [6'36"] from May 1958, under a year before the end. It gives a good idea of the sinuous nature of 'The Tramway' (from which, following a distinctly unsuccessful test run, the ex-CB&P 2-4-2T's were banned) and includes a surprisingly presentable No.6T.
LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46521 dominates the Cotswolds on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway yesterday afternoon.
Memories of Dinting Railway Centre.
2nd day of the Ecclesbourne Valley Diesel Gala with 73001 star of the show.
Coverage of the Welsh Highland Railway's 100th anniversary celebration services - featuring Russell and Palmerston between Dinas Junction and Rhyd Ddu
Friday 12th August at the Peak Rail Mixed Gala featuring D1501 and D7659.
Video footage taken during a week in South Devon, featuring films from the Dartmouth & South Devon Railways as well as 70000 on the Dawlish Seawall.
Something slightly different. While at the North Norfolk Railway Michael Portillo was out filming his next series of Great Costal Railway Journey's. I managed to get some rough video and a few photographs of him.
