Once upon a time Heritage Railway (and Steam Railway for that matter) came out every month, essentially on the last Thursday. It was fairly easy for a simple lad like me to remember this and go into a newsagents and pick up a copy to get the latest news as early as possible. Now it's gone 4 weekly I keep missing the publication dates and once it's a week old I look upon it as 'old' and don't bother with it. Rather than gaining a readers money, in my case they are losing it. Am I unique or do others think and do the same?

You could always pay the subscription for a year - and not miss a copy....

With the many different periods, I agree it would be very useful to have a calendar of significant dates.

Having been involved with submitting the ads for SSS, it would have been very useful to have had information like this:

    Steam Railway
    4 weekly
Publication Date (on sale), Issue No. xxx = xx/xx/xxxx
Deadline for adverts for issue xxx = xx/xx/xxxx
Deadline for news submission for issue xxx = xx/xx/xxxx

    Ditto for
    Heritage Railway
    Railway Magazine
    Back Track
    Steam Days
    British Railway Illustrated
    etc. etc.
