Which of the ex Wells locos is that please?
This one. I don't know if it is but was told by a learned friend it was ex Wells.
Thanks. Yes, late of Wells where it was named HOWARD.
https://pooleprojects.net/poole-park-railway/ Nothing mentioned since this piece dated 13th June 2022.
For those pining for former times [well, April 2009] here is a video by Nick Tozer (his copyright of course):
Unfortunately when it reopens it will be a 'lesser' ride than the one filmed. There will be only two coaches, it will travel clockwise only. The 'train' will be coloured white. There was a position advertised by the local council for two supervisors. 15 hours per week with scope for longer hours as and when required. It will e interesting to see how long the railway 'repays' the £500k loan.
With the amount of railway expertise(??) on display on this site and straight in as supervisors?should not be a problem!!!!
Long daily commute for you, though....
with all that expertise one here you are well equipped!. Is there a date for operations yet??
Not interested. If it had been rebuilt to 12-1/4" gauge and they'd wanted to hire "Sherpa" for a season I would have been!
I know precisely what you mean. Having seen it on it's holiday along the coast at Nohampton, I agree. Of every 12in/12¼in gauge loco I've seen (and that's quite a few!), Sherpa has a unique presence which is nothing short of absolutely bloody marvellous!
Quite agree - it was what persuaded me to buy the Fairbourne back in '95 and I subsequently bought it from the company. Worth every penny!
I have heard that PPRy will be running within the next two weeks.
Thank You; thst is very good news. hope to take my first trip in over 60yrs!!
a few photographs of Saturday Morning 30/7/22 driver/guard familiarisation/training.
Should be open to the public very soon.
looking good. Thx for the updates
I have a feeling that this revivaL is going to be a great success
Nice to see that the railway is returning. A good part of my early years holiday's were spent riding the railway. I hate to think that is 50 years ago....
Loaded test runs Monday afternoon. 30 plus volunteers crammed into the train and enjoyed a couple of turns around the railway. More testing completed today . Hoping the railway is signed off from the contractor to the council.
Any further updates??
Signs on the display boards on the station in Poole Park this afternoon simply said "Coming Soon" How soon that will be was not given any indication
Station still currently fenced off.
paper work being signed of is holding back the opening.
