I drove a TY42 i Poland, lovely beast, they are the post war Polish built versions.

I then drove a TY2 - the WW2 built Class 52 & while it was the same excellent machine it rather gave me the creeps, although it was what I had always wanted to drive

Like the photos taken at Lukavac. Went there 2015 and in the evening couldn't work out what there was a red fug everywhere. Then realised smog from the Coking Ovens and Oxygen plant. Loved it.

Meant to ask what is the current state of the 52s in Bosnia. We didn't see any at Banovici and didn't get to the Tuxla works. Is a return visit worthwhile.

I did one of Bernd Seiler’s Far Rail trips a few weeks ago. A pool of 5 Krieksloks still exist. I saw 3 working - shunting coal trains at Sikulje and Dubrave Mines. Plus Far Rail chartered one to work on the main line with a rake of freight wagons.plus loco workshops still operating at Bukinje (std gauge) and Banovici (narrow gauge); repairing and overhauling steam locos. Quite amazing. I’m working with several railway mags for some coverage. Amazing to see. A USA tank built locally shunts the coal screens- it rarely does this now when diesel in service.
