Just on the issue of the "ugly" steel footbridge, I suggested a repaint, but in fact looking at it over the weekend, given that it is there to stay, I think it is less noticeable in its current black paint. Coming up with a different paint scheme, ie crimson and cream "London Midland" for instance, might just draw more attention to it!

Still makes me wonder though how in their right minds the Council allowed it to be built in a conservation area, and passing right over the original station building. Crazy decision!

Obviously other methods of operation will become possible once the signalling works at the Riverside Loop have been completed....ie a loco held there to back onto the train having just arrived in Platform 2 and then take it back up to Rowsley. The loco left in the platform then proceeds to the loop to await its next turn....

Except that it requires a locomotive to come from Riverside while the train is on the single line and the possibility of an EMT train emerging from the tunnel to find the Peak Rail fireman emerging from under a train.

RE: Use of diesel 31 270

On today's services the 31 was at the Rowsley end of the train with tank engine 68 013 at the Matlock end.

Class 31 fans - remember 31 270 is currently in Regional Railways blue and white livery, so making a refreshing change from BR Blue and BR Green. A day rover on Peak Rail is just £7.50 so take advantage haulage fans!
