An email from Pathfinder yesterday says
"Pathfinder regret that with the current COVID19 restrictions in place we believe we would not be able to provide our usual high level of service and ambiance aboard our trains that our passengers have come to expect from us. As we wish everyone to have a positive experience, enjoying a relaxing day out with us we do not want to disappoint and therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone all the excursions in our programme until next year (2021). "

I am posting this (a) for information and (b) to highlight the difference from some other railtour promoters. I make no comment on the rights or wrongs.

Carriages made to comply with Government Guidelines on Social distancing wouldn't suit Pathfinder.

More to the point, the carriages in question have seen better days and they/Riviera are now way behind the upward curve of quality in rolling stock provision. Some Mark 1s on heritage lines would put the main line stock to shame.

Very true Al. Shame as the set was every bit as good as Saphos Mk1s in the 1990s when they had a major overhaul with the grey and blue interiors and highly polished wood. In the last few years only 1 or 2 a year have seen any form of refurbishment.
