Looks like a decent enough show was put on by the P&D judging from the pics that are on here, hope the visitor numbers warranted it, pity i was at the other end of the country at the weekend, a Castle pounding out of Goodrington with the TE headboard and reporting number is what GWR steam is all about.

    and this

Unfortunatly I was too early for the headboard but still a good pic all the same. \:D/

From what I remember, and what I've been told 75014 was leaking steam from all the places she shouldn't and was pretty messed up when she arrived (From the Manline??) and was only kept in service as she was needed at that time to assist 5239 as then you only had 5239 and 6435 as 4555 had just gone out of service!!
Also wasn't 5239 put into service before Lydham, without checking the dates but if so surely 75014 will replace 5239, to keep the 3 engines. =P~

As for the alluded engine seeing her tackle a decent gradient would be nice as lets face it that other railway hasn't really got one, not in the class of Goodrington Bank anyway. She would also look really good on a goods train with all the wagons the PDSR could muster maybe take onsomeone elses idea of a 23 wagon goods train if they have that many?? :-k

For now I think we just need to see how well this years event has done once all the relevant paperwork is shuffled before we start coming up with expensive suggestions on next year and getting carried away again.

7827 due to be withdrawn end 2014
5239 due to be withdrawn end 2016
4277 due to be withdrawn April 2018, so in reply to your earlier comment, no, the standard will replace Lydham Manor.

Maybe the P+D just realised that nothing can beat a 2-8-0, so they've decided to swap boiler tickets around... :) 8-[

From what I hear 4277 was also banked by Ratty AKA Mercury one day last week but I'm not sure which one, must all be good news for the PDSR if they need 13 coach trains.

If anyone was able to post in advance when a coach party was due (if this isn't commercially sensitive)...ie when a train is due to be strengthened, then I'm sure that the railway would have quite a few enthusiast visitors, even midweek. The thought of a Manor barking up the bank on load 13 does whet the appetite somewhat....

No I do not currently volunteer
7827 running today, 5239 is in the workshops. Charter train due tomorrow I believe is called The Dartmouth Express and will be hauled by 70013 Oliver Cromwell.
