I'll second that. Back in September the ride was particular rough although with all the rail raplacement and new stock coming online soon, get there while you can to experiencve the ride of a lifetime! Hold onto ya dentures!

Anyone booking a luxury train experience needs to check the small-print about the ability to substitute rolling stock.

I think they should be preserved, my dad tells me a story of trainspotting in the 50's in Nottingham "anything about?", "no, nothing but bloody standards"...

 

I think he would rather confine himself to a Swiss trip...

Not dissimilar to the experiences of my brother and myself - in his case, many of the same A4s, A3s, WDs and O2s... for me, a constant diet of 31s and 47s punctuated by Deltics...

Any idea what I’m is going on with 142003 at Eastleigh? I’d heard the pacers had gone there for scrap but the fact this is being repainted would suggest otherwise!

Contract work for someone?

 

The Eastleigh sets were steeped in rumour with AFAIK nothing confirmed. Their was/is talk of private preserved ownership (not scrap) for at least one of them with others for spares recovery. The latter is presumably necassary/desirable as most of the 142's have had destruction orders on them.

It's not the 1st April so I should not really suggest they are standby stock for the Island Line.........

One rumour suggests at least one will be based at the big depot just south of Crewe station.

 

More plausible than many ideas. Although who would want to travel on a 142 is open to debate!

VT have bought no 142s.

 

AFAIL VT has no UK railway interests !
