I believe some-one asked about a photo charter - there is to be one on the Saturday morning - PRE-BOOKING ESSENTIAL due to space available on the gbrake vans - please contact nymrphotocharters@yahoo.co.uk for bookings.

To follow Steven's message up, yes there are still a few places available on the charter using 7822 and the freight train, if you would like to partake please email Matt on the address given above ASAP. This is likely to be the only time the Manor hauls the freight over gala weekend so should not be missed.

Don't forget that one of the special features of all NYMR Galas is the operation of trains to Battersby along the Esk Valley line on the Sunday - speed limit 45mph, with some quite "nice" gradients. There will be two round trips between Whitby and Battersby connecting with Grosmont to Pickering services and currently planned to be hauled by 44767 - its first real public trains beyond Grosmont since return to traffic (it has done a couple of diners in June).

Are you able to say what 7822's first public trains will be on Sat/Sun? I'm willing to buy a WTT once I'm there, but could do with knowing as looking into which day to visit.

Probably because it hasn't been finalised yet. Crew rosters have changed today to reflect latest situation. (I've lost my turn for the w/e.)

I am informed that the amended loco rosters are with the Commercial bods for formating and they can then add them to the website for download.

£2.50 the night before or free when I turn up tomorrow and buy two rover tickets?! I'll just have to hope that Foxcote will be at Grosmont when I get there for the first train and not at Pickering. It's understandable if you're a photographer but not very good if you want to travel behind a specific loco. Is £2.50 really justifiable too?

All 7 available locos will be in steam all days - it is planned to be 825 and 63395 starting from Pickering Friday. The two Black Fives are handling Battersby services on Sunday.

76079 will also be in use on "station pilot" and demonstration duties at Grosmont - in the later case, with NER Snow Plough No.18.

Ok, thanks Steven. Hopefully I'll have a good day tomorrow, haven't been to the Moors for a few years so really looking forward to it, especially with a GW engine!

That's not bad news really. I don't like galas and the weather's too good to be sat on a steam loco, all day! I can do that any time and will be doing so on Monday.

Just wondering, how's the weather round Pickering? If it's anything like it is here in the Midlands, we must surely be approaching 'firecon' territory by now?

Interesting, in view of a previous posting on another thread, to see a 'rubbish' Southern engine assist an ailing Manor up from Grosmont this morning. The Southern engine (825) looked pretty good to me.
