While a good idea, I suspect the excessive and continuous noise (as children do tend to like these things!) might be an unpleasant atmosphere for some. I much prefer the idea of localising the noise/smoke effects in a mock-engine shed environment.
How about resurrecting the signalling display/model layout which I have never seen operating but have heard is really good.

Im surprised no one from ARISE has been on hear to request additional coverage/displays of industrial railways, which was surely the reason for the railways creation and had some of the longest lasting private systems and steam locomotives, together with interesting specialised locomotives such as the fireless.

As previously muted I would be interested in the early development of non-steam forms of propulsion (probably no surprise given my signature) and how this lead to todays modern trains. Again perhaps going off topic, but a question that I have wondered about is why the GWR seemingly (if my history is correct) made the backwards step of running 14xx etc push pull sets when they had been using the Diesel railcars.

Finally, and apologies if I have already said this, but thank you Anthony for seeking our views.

Thank you all, but the idea was not solely mine, the NRM+ Project Board have sought the widest possible views from all areas and i suggested Nat Pres, and bless Steve, he ran with it for us. I have a Board meeting tomorrow, so will feed this back to them, but rest assured, there are many many good ideas here, lots of which we have thought about but good to hear from others too!

All the best and thanks again
    Anthony
