NRM shunting

Discussion in 'National Railway Museum' started by rough-shunter, Sep 28, 2008.

How does the nrm shunt stock around the two sites and across the mainline and how does it cope with having locos tested for FTR for example mallard ect do they require there axels testing ?

Everything has an FTR before moving from North to South sides, and 08 911 "Matey" is certfifed to run on NR. Ultrasonic where necessary.

Small wagons can go from side to side on a lorry if they are too fragile to travel over NR, or if other circumstances mitigate. Eustace Forth and other stuff has been lowloadered out as it will go under the Leeman Road bridge. Big locos and coaches, not so...AFAIR wooden framed stuff has been out there on a trip basis, but it's not far. Things such as 910 with a wooden framed tender.

Yes it was, being out of gauge. Famous for the TV programme and the quote "Ray doesn't do slow..."
