Table lamps or not, the coach may as well be used for the staff. There may be other similar coaches elsewhere languishing in a rail siding. <BJ>

Aren't the staff allowed their bit of luxury? ;)

They get a seat and a light? Double luxury at that end of the market.:)

Don't forget that there is also a sleeper attached particularly when the train is working away from Carnforth for several days.

Two things. One, surely the staff deserve to enjoy the same level of comfort as their passengers when on a break?

But also more likely, it maintains a look and feel of class which blends in with the vehicles either side of it. While we know it's a non passenger carrying vehicle, non enthusiasts who are travelling may not and might question the rather bare looking coach in the middle of their train?

325 is a restaurant first which is not the same as most preserved kitchen cars. Like many, half the vehicle is taken up with a kitchen, but instead of the saloon end being fitted with a buffet counter and loose seating (like e.g. a RBR would be), it is fitted with proper first class seating. When I have seen the set pass in the past, it’s often been used as intended with passengers seated.

Presume WCRC have done the maths on the return on based on the seating capacity, or decided for another reason not to fit CDL, so I assume it can now only be used for staff.

Tangmere came to a standstill just South of Oxenholme and restarted the heavy train for the climb to Grayrigg. Video to follow.

Signal stop. Cautioned about possible trespassers in the Greyrigg area.

What's wrong with communication over the radio to the crew? It is 2024 after all.
