I understand it will be moving on to the the T&DSR in October. I had the privilege to have a drive today and it is everything I both remember and expected. A cracking machine. Congratulations to Peter Best and his team for a job well done. And thanks for doing it.

no takers - should I assume therefore that confidence is low that 92134 will be ready for the end of this month's gala?

Personnaly, I would assume from the lack of response that 'nobody knows' (Rather than jump to a pessimistic and potentially wrong conclusion ).

If I say no and it appears, I'm wrong. Likewise, if I say yes and it doesn't, I'm wrong. I try my best to avoid being wrong. The boiler has already been steamed so it is largely finishing off jobs and running in. The silly season is now over so a lot more people available to work on it. It is progressing.

I suggest that, at this time, all efforts are being made to complete both 92134 and Lucie in time for the gala, but it is too early to be sure that they will be successful. Two for Last Minute.com imho - shucks, that could mean only 13 on the weekend - call it off!

Thanks for the response Steve. I fully appreciate the situation which is why I wasn't expecting a yes/no answer. If it's 50/50 that it will be launched then so be it.

    Who said call it off?
I asked what I thought was a fair question based on a diary clash and needing to be in two places at once. I also fully appreciate how these situations can be protracted given the tremendous effort over so many years.
For me 92134 launch would be the icing on the cake and therefore could clinch my decision and booking of some accommodation. Likewise if it doesn't happen, then so be it and I'll wait til next time.

I think @60044 was being slightly humorous in his suggestion to call it off!

Email from NYMR today details three locos for gala newly back in traffic 29,825 and 2253.
Considering time from on shed test runs to entering traffic (825 not yet there ),then I suspect best case for 92134 may be completed and in steam .Hopefully I will be wrong but it should be an excellent event anyway .

I am reliably informed that, barring unforseen problems, 92134 will be running at the gala. Insurance exams booked for next week and running in shortly after.

Was the King struggling yesterday? I was watching the Grosmont cam and there was black smoke in the distance for so long before it appeared that the camera timed out.
I see today it has a banker, on the 1230 semi dining service, and looked magnificent climbing to Grosmont, and only took 10 minutes from Grosmont. Wish I could be up there this week.

It stalled on bank on the late running 10.30 service from Grosmont, which I was on yesterday. Clouds of steam and black smoke, then no movement for a few minutes until I heard what I suspected was a diesel horn, when assistance was given from the rear to reach Goathland. Ran OK the rest of the trip though.

Does it have working sanders? Not all locos have them restored, after all, they're probably not needed at Didcot!
