60009 worked the NWCE direct from Chester to Crewe where the train terminated. Passengers returned to Wilmslow, Stockport and Manchester on a service train.

Reported that the person did jump in the end. Whether there was a kid involved I don't know.

Hardly seems worth reporting now that we arrived back in Crewe just under 2 hours early.

Does anybody know whether 60009 will be able to operate this Sunday's train ?

If not, what alternative locos are available ?

    Bob.

I understand there is a fairly good chance she will, I will be in Crewe tomorrow, Wednesday, and will see what news there is.

I believe that the heritage centre is holding an open day this weekend and that 46233 and 60009 plus another 4-6-2 engine is attending as well.

Here is the relevant link - Crewe Heritage Centre >> Event Calendar

Based on this info I would guess that 60009 won't be pulling the tour and that either 45305 or 70013 would take over.

However this is purely speculation, time will reveal.

There is a disclaimer on there in tiny print, "At least two locos present at any one time - all Locos and site facilities subject to availability"

I began thinking that Oliver Cromwell might be heading for Crewe based on it's Schedule. The Dorset Coast Express on Wednesday back to London. London to Crewe le move makes sense to me anyway. That is unless we are in for a surprise that I think is rather unlikely (pacific) to happen.

It won't be 60009 anyway - she's on the Cumbrian Mountain Express this morning.

Nothing to stop here doing the NWCE tomorrow, she has done both previously.

Doubt it will be 70013 either she's doing Paddington - Minehead today isn't she? What does that leave? 46233?

It likely wont be 46233 it having repairs done at Crewe and 60009 is filling in for it today, so there was not steam at heritage centre and from what man said on gate it may work tomro he said 60009 filling 46233 jobs not sure how long meant for so ?.

I believe the plan was always for No 9 to do the CME and NWCE this weekend.

46233's gone over to the carriage sidings South of Crewe for work to be done to the Tyres or something apparently.

Here're a couple more from yesterday. One at Dwygyfylchi and the other at Ty Croes.
