I’d completely forgotten that the Y14 returned to service in 2014.

Guess the NNR will try to hire in a few locomotives to cover the ones under overhaul

Thanks Chris. I enjoyed the tour of the workshops at Weybourne on the Saturday of the gala, now I know what the Gold/Silver/Bronze means when referring to the restorations in progress!
On the subject of C&W, there's a good piece in the latest Trackside magazine about the M&GN coaches from Steve Allen, mostly about the planned blood and custard LNER train.

A few pictures from the gala.

Looking at the withdrawals, the fleet next year will be 53809 & 90775, with the possibility of the return of the N2 and Ring Haw?

I think the Y14/J15 has another year or at leasst most of it. Overhaul was completed in 2015 amd I don't think Black prince has been withdrawn yet either

Think Black Prince due for withdrawal before the main season starts?

According the the latest issue of Joint Line, the boiler ticket runs out in May but they're hoping to get an extension, although the loco is now running with one tube blanked off.

Sad to see photos on Facebook of 76084’s last day in service before overhaul. Ten years flew past.

Seems it was the perfect engine for the NNR, hopefully it will be back in service there soon as possible.

"One tube blanked off" and you're hoping for an extension to the boiler ticket. What sort of boiler inspector do you have?

I'm not in any way connected to the NNR so I can't comment on their boiler inspector. I did deliberately put the word 'although' between the parts about the extension and the leaking tube. It is worth noting that the statement about hoping for an extension was made before the tube was found to be leaking.

They are designations of the extent of the overhaul. There is also a bronze level.

One tube blanked off is not a major problem.
Often a leaking tube was 'plugged' with two tapered bungs with a length of screwed rod compressing
the bungs into the ends of the damaged tub, allowing the boiler to be steamed until the next 'down time' when a replacement
tube could be fitted. A common practice in sub sheds and merchant navy...
