    As a Winson product, any likeness to other locomotives living or deceased is purely coincidental.

    Ah yes - good point!
    Apologies, I'd focussed on the references to No 1 earlier in the post and skipped the fact the final comment referred to No 2!

    Genuinely sad to hear that Stuart’s leaving the Talyllyn, really enjoy the videos of him and Chris on YouTube with their walkabouts.
    Tywyn does seem to be a bit of the Crewe Alexandra of Railway preservation in that they seem to nurture GMs before they head off to other railways/ projects.

    Full details including timetable for the Baguley Birthday Bash have now been published on the website. Non-stop run from bufferstop to bufferstop in the afternoon, round trip with Alf, and trips on Toby the engineering trolley. Lawrie Rose will also be in attendance.

    Unfortunately No. 5 Midlander has been stopped for gearbox overhaul and won't be operating, but we hope to have it and some of the other engineering plant vehicles on show. I believe there will be an appeal/collection to help bring No. 5 back into service for the October event at which it and No. 9 are intended to be the main stars.

    An interesting few days at Tywyn for a David Williams photo charter. Weather hasn't entirely played ball but we've had 4 in red and 3 facing the wrong wa, together with some rather long an unusual positioning formations.

    Lovely, and I've bookmarked it... but the music could have been a bit more varied. It felt like I was on hold on the phone, mercifully without being told how important my call was.

    I’d recommend a look at ‘the railway with a heart of gold’ film on YouTube.
    Rather interesting it was 10 years before your Deltic namesake came along :)

    It seems to my nonexistent musical ear as a variation on Carson Davidson’s music that he composed for his film ‘The Railway with a Heart of Gold’. For anyone who hasn’t seen this, it is a must.

    I noticed in the YT comments that it was indeed "Heart of Gold".

    It’s a piece that’s used a lot on TR media, when I hear it my eyes roll then I start to smile, there’s still a part of me that remembers happy holidays in Bryncruig just outside Tywyn.

    On completely different note though The TR’s YouTube content is absolutely bloody bang on, other railways could (and should) take note.

    True. I've seen some YT content posted on here that is truly dreadful - stuff that I'd be ashamed of were it me. Something to do with a diesel was an absolute horror, I recall.

    Talyllyn Railway's efforts on Youtube were recently recognised by the HRA Award - text clipped from their FaceB page;

    "WINNER! The First Preserved Railway building a digital audience.
    We're so honoured to have won the Marketing & Communications Award for our YouTube channel at the Heritage Railway Association awards!"

    They also got an award for the recreation of the TyDwr watering point.
    (Edit to add;)
    The Ffesti videos on YT are usually pretty good too.

    Today saw the final day of service for No. 4, which has now been withdrawn for overhaul. Even the sun came out to see her off!

    Number 6 was in steam today and made an appearance at Wharf. If all went well with the newly machined modified axleboxes the railway should be back to having three working steam locomotives once more.

    Amongst the awkward and uncomfortable goings on on some other railways, this seems like a great event;
