I was mulling over which railway might have the most variety in its operational loco fleet. Normally I'd probably expect it to be the Bluebell, but surprisingly, the NYMR looks to be a strong contender. This year it should have the following range of types:

    0-6-0 - J27
    0-8-0 - Q6
    4-4-0 - Schools
    4-6-0 - B1, S15, Black 5
    2-6-4T - Std 4
    2-6-0 - Std 4

    Possibly:

    0-6-2T - Lambton
    0-4-0T - Cockerill tram

    and next year:

    4-6-2 - West Country

Depends how you define variety, of course,
+I've chosen wheel arrangement because 0-6-2T, 0-6-0, 0-8-0 and 4-4-0 are all relatively uncommon, but how do other lines compare?

I think the MHR can currently claim no two wheel arrangements the same in its operational fleet. Not the most, but certainly varied.

The SVR isn't exactly shabby in that department.

If I remember correctly the NNR has on site:

    0-6-0ST Ring Haw
    0-6-0 Y14/J15
    0-6-2 N2
    2-6-0 Std 4
    4-6-0 B12
    2-8-0 7F
    2-10-0 WD & 9f

0-6-0ST Wissington & 0-4-0 Y7 are away on hire elsewhere.
