41312 & 76017 did the honours on the service trains.

Wow, didn't even realise 850 had been overhauled, let alone that she would become a 4-4-0 in the process ;)

Likes on Face Ache are one thing - bums on seats are more important & prices haven't been announced yet!

I'm a little bit sceptical about this - what does the railway gain from it? except from a full train....... & the Distillery hopefully gets increased sales....... hopefully both parties know what they are doing marketing wise.......

Nothing a number change couldn't fix!

My Oops - 850 was mentioned today & 925 is referred to as Chellie by the crews - so not hard when you're tired to cock it up! :Saywhat:

I think it's something that could work, the Mid Norfolk did something similar last year, Gin's an 'in thing' at the mo, has to be worth a go.

Quite a few if you put a little tank loco to pull it that can only muster about 10mph.

If it brings in punters who wouldn’t come otherwise why not. It is a small sample size but my sister (who tolerates trains rather than likes them) likes gin and was keen when I told her about it. She wouldn’t go to the mhr otherwise, so if it adds a new revenue stream then it could be a good idea. If real ale trains can work then why not gin or wine trains?

I'm sure it can, but what I haven't read is anything along the lines of "we plan to offer similar with different Gin Factories in the future, should this event prove successful" or words to that effect, as at the mo, it's one G F promoting one version of "Mother's Ruin" washed down with some posh nosh & no word of tutored tastings etc, etc.........

Trust me, I'm all for the Rly trying new things, and if they rotate through other G F's to educate folks on their distillates, then why not?..... there's a fair few in 'Ampshire & one right on the doorstep in Four Marks!

Pricing could be interesting, given what's proposed & it's likely to utilise the Belle or Countryman stock - given it's out the same time as the RAT!

Well it won't be 45231 as she left the MHR earlier. Here she is between Farnham and Aldershot. She nearly caught me out as she stormed round the corner. Wonderful sound! LRG_DSC00101.JPG

I've got a bottle of Silverback Gin, in the old-style bottle, and very nice it is too.
