Why is 34052 apparently moving fro Southall to Ropley tomorrow?

Perhaps the MHR should correct their website by stating that 34052 will be attending for the first weekend only.
There might be some folks attending the second weekend expecting to see four Bulleids in action when there will only be three.
I wonder also if 34052 is the standby loco for 35028 on the ML excursions on the 5th and the 9th July?

    Sounds interesting.........
Perhaps there is some work required using the wheeldrop?
Or could she be visiting for the War on the Line event. :)
I can't see any ML work for her on UKSteam until the end of June.

Earlier this week, 34046 was widely reckoned to be stepping in for Clan Line on the Belmond Pullmans to Bath a week today (17th), but the highly reliable uksteam.info website now says "tba." This suggests that your wheeldrop theory may be correct.

I did wonder on my way home from work tonight if they had sneaked her down today as when I cycled over a bridge over the line between Aldershot and Farnham there was a very strong smell of a steam locomotive having passed by. Couldn't see any bonfires anywhere. Can't find any timings for tomorrows move either. Anyone have any idea of the times?

The move of 34046 (34052) today from Southall to Ropley has now been removed from UKSteam movements page as I guess it is not going ahead?

Have heard it could be a gauging issue - but don't quote me on it.

That doesn't bode well for her summer visit.... I wonder what's changed now. Perhaps it's the new bridge outside Aldershot Station. She has been along the route several times before without any problem.

If what I've stated is true - its probably down to the need to be re-gauged following overhaul.......

According to SR magazine this month 34007 will be renumbered has 34019 Bideford. From memory 34105 was renumbered has 34102 Lapford some years ago for a end of steam gala. Bideford only lasted to March when others lasted a bit longer.

    34002 Sailsbury April 67
    34006 Bude March 67
    34015 Exmouth April 67
    34019 Bideford March 67
    34023 Blackmoor vale July 67
    34038 Lynton June 67
    34102 Lapford July 67

34038 Lynton was withdrawn in 1966. The seventh of the unrebuilds to last into 1967 was 34057 Biggin Hill - the only BB series loco to do so.

Hope so, If we are getting to the stage where Bulleids are genuinely out of gauge then it's prob time to throw ML operations in the bin.

Also in Steam Railway it says 34046 (as 34052) will only attend the first weekend when it will paired with the lines goods vans to recreate 34052's last working on July 9th 1967.

Also according to the article it's planned to display 34058 at Alresford.

Fret ye not - what I mentioned would appear to be the case & I believe gauging is imminent..... followed by a move to Ropley.......

Exciting news. I wonder if it's a replacement for 34052 during the second weekend or a static exhibit?
Could be as mentioned above a loan of the NRM Bulleid residents or perhaps a BR Standard Loco that was around the SR during the final years of Steam (75078 perhaps?)
Really looking forward to this event as I couldn't make the Swanage Bulleid Gala.
