Well, with the Snowplough, Wadebridge and early February railhead conditions, I'm not going to be holding my breath for an early finish ;)

A lame excuse.......... I could always ask The Rottweiler to accompany you.........

But you're right the conditions could make things "fun"! I wonder if that means the first trains are double headers?.................... would make sense....... ;)

Still, looking forward to 4464 storming the banks. :)

Don t forget to pack the sleeping bags and flasks, for when you get snowed in at ropley and have to stay the night, of course your dad could always sample the RAT , whilst you stick to your soda pop :( talk him into a birthday meal on the belle :)

That would be great, arrive on Friday, get snowed in, stay the while weekend - what a shame!

I'm afraid to say, there is no RAT on the Saturday evening of the Gala.
The RAT Bar will be open throughout the 3 days though and will be advertised on the timetable.

Apparently they're going to be having one, which would be quite imaginative given they've seemingly lacked the imagination to do one for about 10 years...

Let's hope 4464 Bittern arrives tender first. Then the loco will be facing out of Alresford.

Lets hop so, it would balance things up in terms of the way the loco's face.

Depends which way the lorry brings her in. Her ML ticket will be expired by the end of this year. Unless she comes down right after her last tour on the 30th Dec.

I could be completely wrong, but "I think" she can be dragged down in light steam............ or she could get special dispensation, and travel down under her own steam......... either way is a damn sight cheaper than two low loaders!

Being that both visiting locos are already at Ropley well before the gala. There won't be any transport cost's add in to the running cost of the gala. So this year spring gala should make a good profit.

Alternatively ticket prices could be cheaper? :D (In all seriousness I am quite happy to pay the going rate for a gala ticket, I get enough free rides with my work permit for me to definitely spend less on tikets than the average enthusiast doing the same amount as me) Does the MHR have any projects going on at the moment other than the CanPac + coaches one out of interest?
