Thank you. As usual, I was working on the Belle on AGM night! I knew the Ivatt had been mooted for the Winter/Spring service but hadn't heard anymore about it.

Having been party to the decision regarding the bar car my memory of the situation is pretty accurate.

I also like the idea of the two Maroon coaches and the Ivatt running together. Add a couple of vac braked vans too!

Unless and until we have a lot more demand for diesel hauled services I cant see any point in painting carriages in blue / grey.

Sorry, wasn't doubting you re BG3! But the Ivatt tank would be lovely with the consist described.
It was interesting to see the mainline stock stabled at Alresford prior to departing behind Braunton the other day. Now in maroon, weren't some of the Mk2's originally part of the MHR"Green Train" that used to live in the headshunt at Alresford?

yes some of the green train mk2's were re painted into Red, talking about coach liveries, how about a comprimise, paint the 3 bulleid coaches in blood and custard, repaint the schools in lined black, early totem, keep 2 maroon coaches for early traffic. charters, maroon coaches could be seen with blood and custard, so thats one rake, 2 solutions, maybe put a RB into maroon, to suit the rake

I'm sure I saw in the Railway Magazine a report that all hands were on deck to have 76017 back in service for the Santa Trains. Who the heck supplied this information? Wildly optimistic at best, seen as the boiler hadn't yet had a steam test and is still a way off having one, last I heard.

HAHAHA - maybe Santa Service 2015, why would they need to rush her into service with the surplice of motive power currently at hand? I believe they plan to use the Black 5 and 9f for the Santa & Christmas services.

One would think Matt Allen and his merry men maybe in the market for the above in one of his photo chaters.

    What!
Some years ago the MHR had a few mk2's in NSE which were used in a tv advert. Wouldn't mind seeing 50027 Lion with a rake of NSE coaches. All we need is one mk1 brake and five mk2's to recreate a Waterloo Exeter service.

One of my fellow hard press workers said today that a loco has arrived at Alresford but being a non rail enthusiast He wasn't sure what the loco was.

Well, if the charter goes a head - ie there's a demand for it, then its 1450 plus a short rake of wagons........ I would've done it, but I had already made plans!

I prefer 50s in blue, in the late 70's/early 80's I often got one on one of the relief trains to the West Country fro Paddington when the HSTs were overloaded

I'm surprised the charter group didn't want 1450 plus the auto coach for their chater. Unless the auto coach couldn't arrive in time for the charter.

East Lancs had a rake of Mark 2s in NSE livery.. and 50008 / 15 running on them at one gala.... BR was still doing exactly the same at the time with other class 50's...
    those were the days :)
I remember one person saying "they are going back to BR next week".. confused person, but doubt he was the only one that weekend.

It's a shame 1450 couldn't have been used on additional services this weekend if she is in steam for the charter. A preview day for the Gala. The WSR have this for their Gala events.
