My footage of the gala on Sunday with a mixture of pure sun and blue skies to dark clouds with it being quite breezy as well. Enjoy.

    Steve,

I had a bit of luck with both rods down. Your photo of 1501 coming through the bridge looks great.

Three from me on the Friday, which included a very brief patch of early sun, and 1501 in a snow flurry. Also 1T57 IMGP0358.jpg IMGP0380.jpg IMGP0410.jpg IMGP0503.jpg on the Saturday.

Particular thanks to the workshop staff for the superb display of boiler repairs. This alone was worth the ticket price.

I attended on the Saturday afternoon and the Sunday of the event, had a very enjoyable time despite the rain on Saturday and the high winds on Sunday. All locomotives were putting in some great performances, a credit to the crews and the guys at Ropley who work so hard (even more so in previous weeks no doubt!) to keep them running. The fact that two freight sets were available for use commends the continued work of the MHR Wagon Group, and while I'm on the subject, it was nice to see the yellow cement hopper in the dock at Medstead - haven't seen that in a while! My video and a set of photos from the weekend are below: the first two are from Saturday, while the remainder are from Sunday. With thanks again to all of the MHR volunteers who made this weekend possible.

Finally got round to sorting out a few pictures from the Sunday of the gala. I had an enjoyable time, my only slight criticism would be that on all of the days the double headed black 5's were the first train from Alresford meaning if you arrived at Alton by public transport you couldn't photograph them at all and could only ride them from Medstead to Alton. The only other time they worked together was one of the final trains tender first out of Alton. Usually I'm not a fan of double headers but for something that was advertised as a highlight of the gala it was a little strange that people travelling from Alton couldn't see it! Not just my opinion, I also heard this separately on the train to Alton. Either way, it was still a good gala with some great sound effects from all the loco's.

First one of the pictures of the pictures can be viewed below and by clicking on the link. To scroll through press the left arrow key.
