I didn't realise these tours are no longer called 'Cathedrals Expresses' until I saw other videos calling them 'Steam Dreams Excursions' and Uksteaminfo has them as Excursions as well.

It maybe people's camera settings but seems a richer shade of apple green than before her overhaul. Darlington as opposed to Doncaster perhaps? Looks rather nice nevertheless.

A few shots from today - Dudswell (where I think 33025 was doing the work), Water Orton and Blakedown

Nice from the lineside but very glad we weren’t on it. Should I believe SD when they say there will be no DL on the Kingswear trip on 4th May?

Rode this from Kidderminster to Worcester Shrub Hill this afternoon as a pay on the day passenger. Very smart acceleration from Kiddy and 19m44s start to stop at red signal in sight of Shrub Hill. Glorious sunny though cool weather thus plenty of smoke and steam blowing from safety valves and noisy loco, mind you I was in first coach behind POB. Spoke to crew of class 33 on rear who confirmed shovage necessary throughout owing to excess weight of train for a class 5, and only one water stop (where 2 would have been ideal). As for the return trip, the crew remarked a class 5 would have been banked on Old Hill in the good old days. Nevertheless all smiles from those detraining at Worcester and worth £20 to ride behind Mayflower at 60mph.

That's a sobering observation. At a stroke Steam Dreams seems to have lurched even further towards steam and diesel combinations. If it fills their trains then who cares as you get to see a rather fine loco strutting its stuff on the main line. With a bit of careful photography the images will still look good. It seems as though the dinosaurs in 2019 may now be the minority who hope that when it says steam hauled, that's what it actually means rather than steam involved.

Don't get me wrong I'd much prefer to ride behind pure mainline steam too. However I am willing on occasion to concede that a steam/diesel combo can still provide some entertainment for those on board.

My footage of Mayflower erupting through Droitwich Spa heading for Worcester in glorious spring sunshine. Enjoy.
