Keeping fingers crossed no rail strikes announced next week for that weekend, then i will buy gala tickets, as i am totally reliant on the railway to get there

Latest update indicates the welcome return of the Hymek D7076, in blue livery. No timetables yet, but they must be imminent.

If driving tomorrow, where’s the best place to park please? The website suggests Heywood but there’s fewer trains and a long evening gap. TIA

Try Heywood then towards the end of the day move car to Bury (free parking post 1800) either car parks or roadside .

    thank you.

I was on it. Both looked and sounded great. A really good day.

7076 wasn’t running solo today, so I will have to go back for it. It’s been around 25 years.

Didn’t you get it at the SVR a few years ago Patrick? I think I’ve mentioned this before but in 2011 my Dad and I had a very impressive run behind it between Bury and Ramsbottom, every now and again when one of us feels a bit deflated the other one will say ‘remember that day behind the Hymek’ it usually raises a smile :)

I’m afraid not. The last time I can recall it was on the ELR in the 1990s :-o

Just as a footnote, turn the clock back 50 years to Bristol Bath Road depot and here are the Warships from the ELR diesel gala in their final croaks. 72-006 001.jpg 71-002 001.jpg
