    Hi all.
I saw a maroon engine, in steam, at the Crewe heritage centre last Friday. It was there when I passed at about 9am & still there when I came back about 2:30pm.
Can anybody enlighten me as to what this engine was?

Take your pick - there are three LMS maroon engines on shed at Crewe at the moment. 6100 Royal Scot, 6201 Princess Elizabeth and 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. It was probably one of the latter two though as they were on main line tours at the weekend and therefore would have required a fitness to run exam.

    Regards,

Friday at 09:00 it would have been 6201.

6233 left for Scarborough at 07:10 and 6100 is inside with its front bogie out.
