Black. Incidentally, as far as I can make out, she was never green in BR service and never carried the later BR emblem.

Black with large early crest. Cant imagine it having a repaint as this was done 4 months before it was stopped for overhaul.

Nothing wrong with a bit of tinsel on the handrails! :D I think it looks rather jolly, and anyway, santa specials are not run for enthusiasts in any way shape or form, probably better to compare them with Thomas days. I'll be interested to see if it remains on during the Christmas Cracker mixed traction gala though, which is likely to have more enthusiasts...

The Farcebook entry states that all of the stays are being replaced, yet as far as I know only three hundred & something copper stays are affected & these should be under guarantee, as the copper used was not of the correct quality, although this was apparently not the fault of the boiler overhaul contractor.

Had a flying visit through Llangollen today and it was lovely to see 5199 back in action.

Can't say that black does it for me on anything with a copper cap really, but other than that looking good. A shame you didn't like the idea of tinsel on the handrails. :D

I was just looking at the loco roster for March, and I noticed that on Sunday, 3802, 5199 and Jesse are down to run. I know it is the official opening of Corwen East, but the website shows it as a normal green timetable. Is there three locos running because there are extra non-public trains running, or is it just there is plans to use more than 5 coaches and double head at the front?

We aren't allowed to run more than five coaches into the temporary platform. There is an official opening train (invitation only) leaving Llangollen at 13.30 & crossing the service train at Carrog. I would presume that the special is topped & tailed with 3802 & one of the other two locos & the service train being propelled between Corwen East & Carrog.

Thanks, I was just surprised to see so many locos working on one day, as it appears the two steam operating days have been dropped for this year. Is this because of the lack of locos last year? As it looks like this year there will be many more available with less miles to cover!

Will this be the first time all 3 preserved 64xx panniers will be operational at the same time in preservation?
