Whilst on the train, I think I spotted 2 LNER Teak Coaches. What state of repair are they at as they would look brilliant behind the N2 in April?

    Thanks,
    Lewis

    Current status is as follows.

5532: Boiler work has started with the removal of the doorplate, and a replacement has been sought. Firebox stays are being drilled out at the moment for work to be carried out on the remainder of the firebox. Bottom end still progressing, with most of the motion on, or ready to go on. If the group had all the money required to finish the job, you'd be looking at about 3 years until the loco is ready. Anyone got any spare change??

5539: Boiler has been assessed to get an idea of what is required to be done, and placed back into storage. Bottom end is still progressing. Last time I looked the piano wire was in place to align the centre lines of the cylinders and slidebars etc.

6430: Boiler out, detubed and been assessed and remedial work is now being carried out. Not a lot has been touched on the bottom end just yet, with work on other locos currently being higher up the list.

7754: Boiler is now up in the yard having been in Pentrefelyn for several years. Assessment is due soon, and work will start on it from there. The bottom end is wheeled, eccentrics have been remetaled, and refitted to the driver, and the loco has been re sprung. Work is progressing with re fitting the motion, and general reassembly of the bottom end. A new rear drag box and bunker have been fitted.

Desmond: Job stopped for various reasons (of which I'm not too sure!!!) Loco is all back in one piece though and stored - sheeted up outside.

    Other locos.

7822: Boiler removed to carryout some work on a crack, located on the front corner of the outer firebox. Should be back in traffic by April for the Croes Newydd gala.

TVR 28: Work has started on reassembling and cosmetically restoring the loco for display down at the Gwilli.

44806: The sad news. The loco will leave llan Jan/Feb next year.

Is there anything likely to be introduced into traffic at Llangollen in the next couple of years? The last out was 7822 I believe, around 3 years ago.

6430 is planned to have a quick turnaround, and 5199 is in the advanced stages of its 10 yearly. The original plan for these 2 locos if for them to be back in traffic during 2014. After that it will more than likely be 7754, followed by 5532. In that time though, it'll be 3802's turn for a 10 yearly.

Is there any chance either 6430 or 5199 will be ready for the Croes Newydd gala in April?

Is 3802's boiler ticket for 2015 or 2016?

Having just checked dates I did a cleaning turn on it in December 2005, so at some point in earlier than that in 2015.

Apologies for adding to the already lengthy list of questions but any idea what will take 7822 place in the loco roster post-Xmas? 44806?

I have donated to the project, but unfortunately am not in a position to do any more than just that :(

Most probably 44806 or 80072. I'll wait for the crew board in the shed to be updated and post it on here.

Thanks Iain, if it's one or other I'll probably pop over from Portmadoc for a visit.

Why? It will undoubtedly get more use on the NYMR.

Maybe it's had a toilet installed in the tender, ready for the long distance running on the N.Y.M.R.
