60009 was rescued from Chester by class 37??? and dragged back to Crewe, probably back at Crewe by 6pm or thereabouts.

It was down to move on UK Steam and I'd heard other reports it was to move today also, though I couldn't see why as like you said 46115 is already at York.

Have read elsewhere that 60009's problems caused the cancellation of three service trains today. Not my story, only what I have read.

As I said... the boxes were cool when she got back to Crewe and the crew were hoping to take her for the scheduled 4th return trip to Chester - in fact just got a text to say she's doing okay!!!

Apparently they did block the line with the 3 cancellations happening and I was told by the crew that it was 6 boxes running hot but these were changed and she ran okay after being towed back to Crewe. She's due back at Crewe around 11pm (again, fingers crossed) (she missed trips 2 and 3)

Ah right, that clarifies, thanks for that, cheers.

So there's still a chance she'll do the loaded test on Wednesday then, most think it'll be defered, thanks again, cheers.

37 was with her on the way to Chester...insurance always useful to have a diesel on the back..

Anyway good to hear that the problem seems to be sorted.

A question. In this case, hotbox(s), does it make any difference whether the loco moves under it's own power or by a rescue loco? After all the wheels are still turning in both cases.

You would guess that there would be less strain if it was being towed.

If the hotboxes were on the tender (I thought I'd seen that they were, but I could be wrong), I doubt whether it would make any difference.
