Just seen it on RailCam, just looks like it's covered in graffiti?

Can they really afford to send 45407? What about the K1?

I understand this is Tornado heading from East Grinstead to Darlington on Monday: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U64280/2025-10-27/detailed

Can't confirm but have seen it said that the route and timings are to do with the opening of Beaulieu Park station at Chelmsford. Unfortunately as it happens I won't be at home in Colchester that day to see it pass.

I guess that means 44871 will be the Southall 5MT for this year's Polar Express (begins Sat 29th). There's also six RTC steam charters (from London or the south) between 15th November and 20th December that don't have 34028 or 35028 pencilled in for, so may well be 5MT-hauled.

Leaving EG at 0449 and arriving at North Road at 2254 - that is a hell of a day! Are there two crews (or more) - surely one can't work through?

At about 18 hours, I would have thought that at least 3 crews would be be needed. That would mean at least 3 steam drivers, 3 firemen and 3 traction inspectors. It appears to be a DB Cargo operation - I'm rather surprised that they can resource it given the amount of steam operations they do these days. Or is it diesel-hauled for some or all of the journey?

Spending a peculiar (timetabled) c.5 hrs stationary in the Chelmsford area really isn't helping.

Involved in a ceremony to open the new station at Beulieu Park I'm lead to believe, hence the time stationary there
