You have hit the nail, "depending on the work carried out", we don't know what has been done and therefore are in no position to judge what testing is required.

I like this one, shows off those lovely long lines of 6201. (shame the rods aren't down though)

Never understand the obsession with rods down to be honest Stuart but I’m sure there must be a reason why that’s the shot everyone wants . From what I’ve seen a good photter takes a couple of shots rather than the machine gun camera but that’s just my opinion .

Ive seen a couple of shots from the same location same engine same day with rods down and in my opinion look far more uniform.

Yes Henry but like I say unless you are a master photter with the one shot it’s near impossible to get rods down hence the machine gun photter.

Steve have a look back at shots with rods up and most of these shots will give the impression that the engine is standing still.Motion looks loads better when rods down giving feeling of speed
    My opinion :)

Hmm , good point but like you say speed looks different up or down depending on how you look at it I would say .

Rod's up, but there is no doubt she's tearing through Lancaster on the 'up fast!' ;) DSC01055.jpg

Steve I was pulling Sheps leg, hence the smiley!
I couldn't give a toss where the rods are, look at my shots.
Why is everyone so touchy for Christ's sake, is it Brexit?
    :(

Edit. Another reason for having the rods down.......LINK ...........................joking of course! ;)

Does anyone know what the trains from Steamtown on Friday are?
There’s 1 to Skegness and 1 to Acton Sidings
Also is any steam due out on Friday?
