6E at Clapham. Stopped about 100/150m beyond the station (long straight). Two guys checked below running plate on fireman's side of 35018 then on driver's side (took a little longer) but no more than 7 or 8 minutes in total. Guys re boarded and with a quick toot from both locos Leander, tender first, hauled the ensemble towards Hellifield. Mrs W and I had bacon butties at The Vicarage in Tosside - whenever Mrs W comes along it always seems to be bacon butties!

Tea! Back home; Candy Crush being ignored (for now) as she is struggling with a sudoku puzzle.

Much prefer them smokebox first, however, LMS 5XP Class 4-6-0 'Leander' heads SR WC Class 4-6-2 'Bodmin' through Crag Lane on their jolly out to Hellifield, both sounding well

    Bodmin+Leander 2b.jpg

Approaching Clapham, SR WC Class 4-6-2 'Bodmin' heads LMS 5XP Class 4-6-0 No. 45690 'Leander' on the return to Carnforth, running approx. 10 early at this stage

Good to see them out and about, cannot see from the pictures but I note that BIL has gained a cabside number, I assume that if it is painted it is 35018 and not the TOP's number as chalked before??

What has actually been up with Leander, she seems to not have had much luck and by extension revenue earning work recently?

None as 98818 has the correct livery for 2017 (TOPS not recognising the 35xxx numbers), and 45690 wore that livery from the BR livery exchanges until 1952.

Ironic really that by trying to defy perceived enthusiast expectations the daft livery actually meets real expectations!

Certainly entitled to do as he sees fit but its a little bit undignified to be motivated to disappoint your supporters?
Something has changed because the 8F, Scot and black 5 all came out very authentic looking, much admired too.
