If you look at today's 5Z61 page in RTT, you'll see "Cancelled in timetable on 15/06/2016", so looks like it's not running today.

    What a waste of time!

Anybody know what the reason was this time?

Afternoon booked off work, cannot cancel it now so it is wasted.
I am done with any kind of mainline steam now, to many factors that can go wrong.
Heritage railways are far more reliable.

I'm not aware that we run tests for anyone other than those involved, ie. the loco owners and inspection bodies.

Looks as if 46100's move to Dereham has been cancelled on both RTT and OTT.

It is a test run , so the risk was yours in taking the time off although I'm sure that there is a preserved line running so the time will not be totally wasted . The working as James rightly highlights is not run for the benefit of photographers or passengers, but to make sure the engine is fit and passed for mainline running and takes place when those involved are happy the engine in ready.

Tests, ECS and Light Engine runs are prone to more last minute changes than tours, being cancelled, 3 hours early or 4 hours late, taking alternative routes, stop short of destination etc are all pretty common, I'm sure @Sidmouth and a few others have been bowled out before by something to Stratford booked via Shirley going via Dorridge and vice versa, it's the gamble you take and sometimes you lose, taking time off work for a test run is an amatuerish mistake.

    Well excuse me!

I and probably most other people on this forum will go to great lengths to see steam trains on mainline, it doe's not matter if it is a tour or testing I am there taking photos.

I was expressing my then frustration at it being cancelled which I am perfectly entitled to do!

Ok I didn't want to post 3 times, but that was my fault and like I said I have never posted on any forum before.

    Thank you.

@Richr welcome to the world of forum postings however a little consideration of what you post may go a very long way together with supporting main line operation by being a passenger as well . Other members please note no further comment in relation to the OP's comment

Rule 1, unless RTT says it has departed, never assume it's running
Rule 2, unless you see its flashing red "EOT" lamp pass you, never assume it will get as far as your location.
Rule 3, until you have smelled the exhaust, never assume what the motive power is.

Test runs are test runs and not out there for the public passenger paying types so why gripe . Personally I have lost many a days holiday from cancelled tests, trains etc plus the list is as long as my arm but no point moaning when things go wrong !

Am at Tyseley, lizzie has come out of TLW but is sitting in the loop behind the dmu depot, not going anywhere at the moment. Must have missed the path to Stratford by now. ECS from Carnforth has arrived. I'm giving up to go and watch the football.

I'd rather watch 6201 going nowhere sat in a siding than football anyday :)

Ditto, I saw it haden't moved on RTT, lucky Hall Green is only a 10 min walk from my place, plenty of capacity on the North Warwicks though so may come out to play later.
