5V44 is a WTT schedule - although it seems doubtful that WC should have such a thing other than between Fort William and Mallaig. From the maps is being delayed at Warrington, although it could be because the new line appears to be blocked, 1M11 just gone via Helsby line.

Different rules apply to a light engine move made in connection with a specific train and often sees the 2-digit serial code be the same as the serial number of the train to be worked. Thus if 45699 + support coach is going to work train id = 1z44 then it would be identified as 5Z44; 5 because it has coaching stock (i.e. the support coach) in its consist and 44 to identify the train which it will be involved with as some point during its journey.

Perhaps someone with TOPS connections might be able to specify the rules because my knowledge is based on sightings over 50 years (i.e. since 1963) and the rules have possibly been changed as technology has over-taken many operating areas. AFAIK the notes I have given are the current situation but as an "outsider" (i.e. no-railway person) I am not aware of any internal changes.

Drifting downhill at Heamies, over an hour late on the RTT schedule, on it's way to London to pull a train that cried out to be hauled by a Castle !

    Yellow stripe - hah !

Just a thought, is this the farthest south 45699 has been since being restored ?

Still at Crewe, per OTT. Presumably servicing in the Heritage Centre.

In our local paper it says that Flying Scotsman will pass through Standedge tunnel about 3pm on both the 7th and 14th June, has anyone any update?
